SEG Group to Meet on Legislative and Regulatory Issues
The Senior Executives Group will meet on January 27 and 28 at the Washington D.C. offices of The Bond Market Association to identify salient legislative and regulatory issues affecting the buyside. The meeting will be facilitated by SEG industry leaders including: Tom Hirschfeld (COO, Investments, J. & W. Seligman); John Gidman, (Executive Vice President, Loomis Sayles); Tom Sorbo (COO, Standish Mellon) and Paul McCulley (Managing Director, PIMCO). These Senior Executives and other leading COOs with asset management firms will attend and help shape TBMA's 2005 joint advocacy goals with the investment community.
The Group will meet with SEC Commissioner Cynthia Glassman, who will report on the status of relevant regulatory proposals. The Group also anticipates meeting with Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA), ranking member of the Financial Services Committee, who would provide an overview of legislative developments.

East Meets West in AMF Bi-Coastal Meetings

AMF Operational Risk Management Workshop
This workshop is an opportunity for AMF members to participate in discussions relating to the operational risks associated with running an asset management business. Many issues in this area are also relevant to sellside professionals. Presentations and panels will address the many controls that are needed to manage operational risk in the different functions within asset management firms; share in a dialogue on "best business practices" relating to managing hedge fund administrators and discuss how Sarbanes-Oxley could affect member firms.

AMF Quarterly Meeting
At the AMF Quarterly Business Meeting, Forum Committees will meet and report on their 2005 goals and objectives. In addition, there will be presentations on several relevant buyside issues and Forum initiatives. There will be a presentation by the Senior Executives Group on the status of the draft SAS 70 project, a panel discussion on Basel II, an update on the AMF Swaps Initiative and a panel discussion on the challenges associated with managing a global operations staff.
