Yesterday, more than 70 members of The Asset Managers Forum participated in the groups' quarterly Members Meeting. At the meeting, asset managers, custodians and service providers learned how to use the knowledge and worked produced within the AMF and apply it to their own operations departments. Member participants also heard updates on the six major buy side operations initiatives, which included:
-- the final release of the AMF's Standard Fail Report,
-- the release of the AMF's exposure draft on Overdrafts Guidelines,
-- a sample Corporate Actions template and
-- the newest edition of "What's New @ AMF," the buy side's operations newsletter
AMF Chair Lisa Ilaria, Vice President at New York Life Investment Management offered welcoming remarks for the day, which was followed by a LIVE video update from AMG Chair David Murphy, President of Strategic Advisers, Inc. on the Asset Management Groups' advocacy and market practices activities. One of the priorities for the Asset Management Group is to develop a Valuation Guidelines White Paper this quarter.
The Member Meeting was organized by AMF Steering Committee Members Gary Nussenbaum, Director of Operations at Lord Abbett and Paul Parseghian, Vice President of Operations at Prudential Investment Management and staff. The Asset Managers Forum of SIFMA and the Global Financial Markets Institute (GFMI) have joined forces to offer investment management and financial services professionals a series of training classes which are designed with input from the members of AMF Steering Committee. On Wednesday, March 19, 2008, AMF will host a class, "Introduction to Credit Derivatives" in New York City.
By the end of the course, the participant will be able to:
-- Understand the features and characteristics of credit derivatives
-- Comprehend the risks associated with credit derivatives
-- Know how credit derivatives are used in the financial markets
-- Develop an understanding of credit derivatives and the respective market participants
