Acclaimed Fund Manager Dan Fuss of Loomis Sayles will Address the SEG & Members of the Bond Industry
The leadership of the Senior Executives Group is pleased to announce that Daniel J. Fuss of Loomis, Sayles & Company, L.P. will address industry professionals during the Asset Manager Session (9:45 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.) of The Bond Market Association's Annual Meeting on April 20, 2005 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City, N.Y. Dan Fuss, who has more than 40 years experience in the investment industry, manages several mutual funds-including the flagship Loomis Sayles Bond Fund and Loomis Sayles Strategic Income Fund-as well as institutional separate accounts.
In addition to his portfolio management responsibilities, Dan serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Loomis Sayles (since 1976). He also serves as chairman of the firm's Global Investment Committee and Bond Policy Committee. In 1995, Morningstar, Inc. recognized Dan as the mutual fund industry's Fixed Income Manager of the Year.
At the Annual Meeting, Dan will offer insights on the outlook of the bond markets. It is important to note that Loomis Sayles is a founding firm of the Senior Executives Group (SEG) of The Asset Managers Forum. With more than 20 asset management firms now engaged, the SEG has been thrust into high-profile industry-wide initiatives, such as mutual fund reforms, the development of SAS 70 best practices and an analysis of counterparty risk factors in the derivatives markets. Currently, the SEG is working with The Bond Market Association to engage in buyside educational events, foster the public image of asset management firms and mobilize on mutual policy issues with the sellside. Participants in the Annual Meeting will hear, first-hand, about these cross-market initiatives.
AMF Workshop on Bank Loans - Save the Date
The Asset Managers Forum is hosting a full-day workshop on Bank Loans on May 16, 2005 to be followed by the Forum's Quarterly Business Meeting on May 17. Based on the success of the February bi-costal meetings, the AMF anticipates recreating the video-conference approach for its May 16 & 17 meetings in New York City and Newport Beach, California. This workshop is an opportunity for AMF members to participate in discussions relating to the operational challenges associated with bank loans in the asset management business. Many issues in this area are also relevant to sellside professionals. In recent years, the Bank Loan market has increased dramatically both in liquidity and in efficiency and has transformed into an important segment of the capital markets. The syndicated loan volume in 2004 was up to $1.3 trillion dollars. In addition to operational issues, the Workshop will address the structure of the market, secondary market trading practices and managing a bank loan portfolio.
For more information regarding this Workshop or the Quarterly Meeting, please contact Diane Trupia or Toni Mollo of the AMF staff at 646-637-9200.
Regional Investor Meetings
The American Securitization Forum (ASF), an adjunct forum of The Bond Market Association, has scheduled two regional investor-only meetings on April 5th and 7th in Boston and Washington D.C., respectively. These meetings are designed to inform and engage investors in a dialogue on current issues facing the securitization market. In attendance will be two senior policymakers - Paula Dubberly, Associate Director of the SEC's Division of Corporation Finance and a principal architect of Regulation AB, at the Boston meeting on April 5th; and U.S. Representative Paul Kanjorski (D-PA), the ranking democrat on the House Financial Services Securities Subcommittee, at the Washington, D.C. meeting on April 7th.
If you know of securitization and structured credit market buyside professionals in these regions who may be interested in attending or are one yourself, please contact Jooho Lee. There is no cost or other obligation associated with attendance at either of these events, which are open to ASF member and non-member investors.
