Robert Auwaerter of Vanguard Testifies Before House Subcommittee Regarding Credit Rating Agency Regulation


In his testimony today before the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance and Government Sponsored Enterprises, Robert Auwaerter of the Vanguard Group stated that credit ratings serve a useful purpose in the marketplace and in government regulations. He suggested improvements in both the transparency and reliability of credit ratings.

Mr. Auwaerter further stated that his firm supports an increase in the authority of the SEC to provide oversight of Nationally Recognized Statistical Rating Organizations.

Mr. Auwaerter is the Principal and Head of the Fixed Income Group at Vanguard. He is also a member of the Steering Committee of the Asset Management Group of SIFMA.
