AMD Congratulates New AMF Leadership

The Asset Managers Division congratulates the newly-elected leadership of The Asset Managers Forum. At the AMF Quarterly Business Meeting on May 23, the membership unanimously elected Jason Jesner of Credit Suisse as Chair and John Gallagher of BlackRock and Lisa Ilaria of New York Life Investment Management as Co-Vice Chairs. James Hintz, Treasurer (and outgoing Co-Vice Chair) of the AMF, conducted the business proceedings.


The AMD would like to thank Julie Warren of New York Life Investment Management, immediate past Chair of the AMF, and James Hintz for their work with the Forum and their outreach to the Division.


Top Ten AMD Activities for June 2006

The Asset Managers Division has several on-going initiatives that are important to achieving its goals and objectives. Below is a list of the Division's Top Ten activities for June 2006. The AMD anticipates hosting a mid-year call-in, in the near future, to update interested industry members on these topics.


1. Working with the Major Dealers on CDS enhancements, including updates on the progress of the DTCC Warehouse and discussing the recommended procedures for back-loading trades into the Warehouse. The AMD is also looking at ways to automate the processing of assignments under the novation protocol.

2. Coordinating with the CFA Institute on Best Execution initiatives and determining appropriate guidelines for fixed income.

3. Continuing to advocate for cross trading provision as a part of pension reform legislation, with the help of TBMA's Washington D.C. office.

4. Preparing for a possible pandemic and its impact on the securities industry by developing an Industry Directory Utility.

5. Organizing a Trends Conference that focuses on developments in the industry and, in particular, new services that would facilitate electronic trading and processing.

6. Conducting an Avian Flu Pandemic Exercise with SIA that would focuses on the possible need for regulatory relief.

7. Communicating with The Asset Managers Forum on initiatives that have a bearing on operations, including STP, Corporate Actions and Bank Loans.

8. Recruiting additional asset managers to join the AMD under the leadership of the Outreach Subcommittee.

9. Engaging hedge funds in TBMA market practices activities that generally affect the buy side.

10. Preparing for the AMD Summer Executive Committee meeting in California.
