The Bond Market Association Welcomes New Asset Managers Division
On Wednesday, October 19 the Board of Directors of The Bond Market Association officially welcomed 16 asset management firms as full members of the Association. John Gidman of Loomis Sayles and David Murphy of Fidelity participated in Wednesday's Board meeting and were named Chair and Vice Chair of the new Asset Managers Division ("AMD") and were elected as BMA Board Members.
This new Division will work with the sellside Divisions and the Washington D.C. office of The Bond Market Association on market initiatives relating to advocacy, education, best practices and general networking. The new Division will continue to work with its AMF partners on buyside matters. This partnership is immediately evident through the Division and Forum's collaborative discussions on ISDA initiatives. Some AMF Steering Committee members also participate directly in the activities of the Division.
The Bond Market Association would welcome other additional asset management firms that desire to participate as members in the new Division. The founding AMD firms, which represent over $6 trillion of assets under management, include Alliance, Federated Investments, Fidelity Investments, Fischer Francis Trees and Watts, General Motors Asset Management, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Loomis Sayles, Lord Abbett, MFS Investments, Morgan Stanley Investment Management, New York Life Investment Management, PIMCO, Putnam, Schroders, State Street Global, Wellington and Western Asset Management.
The Executive Committee of the AMD will meet on Monday, October 24 to discuss and assess the relevant issues relating to the new Novation Protocol. The Executive Committee would determine whether it is necessary to have further dialogue with dealer firms that have been involved in formulating the latest Novation Protocol. Also, the Executive Committee will discuss how it can contribute to a proposed protocol relating to the CDS Index in light of the Delphi filing.
If your firm is also interested in becoming a founding member of the Asset Managers Division, please contact Joseph W. Sack, Executive Vice President of The Bond Market Association at 646.637.9265.
