In September 2006, the European Securities Commission (ESC) formally adopted MiFID Level 2 measures, which were published in the Official Journal. The goal of MiFID is to set forth provisions that govern the operation of regulated markets.


AGENDA ITEMS WILL INCLUDE:


Reviewing MiFID’s implementation timetable and dates that the industry must know. It is expected that MiFID provisions would be fully implemented by November 1, 2007. However, member states of the European Union must adopt MiFID’s requirements into domestic law by January 31, 2007.


Understanding Best Execution Obligations under MiFID. MiFID requires firms to take all reasonable steps to obtain the best possible deal for their clients. Panelists will discuss what best execution means under the new regime and how it differs from current FSA requirements.


Knowing New Transaction Reporting Requirements. MiFID will require that firms report transactions (post-trade) to regulators. Hear from the industry on how this may apply to your firm.


Transparency under MiFID. MiFID sets forth requirements on pre-trade and post-trade transparency which impacts. Hear about the new requirements and to which products they will apply and how businesses will need to adopt.


Cross-Border Trading. MiFID will also have international impact on trading and business requirement. Listen to industry panelists on what your firm needs to know.
