Treasury Market Practices Group Announces Settlement Fails Recommendations

On November 12, 2008, the Treasury Market Practices Group (TMPG) announced that it is committed to restoring efficient functioning of the U.S. Treasury market. In this regard, TMPG is recommending changes in market practices in order to remediate the prevalence of widespread and persistent fails and to prevent their recurrence. Among other matters, TMPG is suggesting a financial penalty on fails.

The Asset Management Group will sponsor an educational event regarding this matter on Thursday, January 8th, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at SIFMA’s offices located at 360 Madison Avenue, NYC. Gerald Pucci of BlackRock, and a member of the TMPG, will be a speaker at this event.

AMG/AMF members are welcome to participate in this event. To do so, please contact Laura Crispo at lcrispo@sifma.org or 212-313-1167 to make registration arrangements.
